Biography - get to know me

Talented actors have the skills to keep us glued to cinema screens, our television sets and the stage. Their clever use of characterisation with skilled use of vocal and movement techniques brings characters to life before our very eyes. Rajpal Yadav is an outstanding example of these characteristics. Rajpal Yadav has not only one of the most elusive film careers, but he is also well known for his industrious persona, devotion to the business of entertaining and his love and appreciation for his fans.

Rajpal Yadav was born and brought up in Kundra, Shahjahanpur, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, where he received his primary education. He was associated with Shahjahanpur theatre and performed in lots of plays before going to Lucknow for theatre training in the Bhartendu Natya Academy during 1992-94. After completing two years course there, he went to the National School of Drama during 1994-97 in Delhi. Thereafter, he came to Mumbai in 1997 to fulfil his career aspirations in the Indian Film Industry.

He started with television & his television career began in Doordarshan's television serial "Mungeri Ke Bhai Naurangilal" as the main protagonist. It was Ram Gopal Verma, a veteran Bollywood director, who acknowledged Rajpal Yadav in the film “Shool” in a small role as a coolie. RGV, who was very impressed by his dynamism, asked Rajpal Yadav to perform a very challenging role in the movie “Jungle”. However, Rajpal despite his success in the negative role in the movie Jungle - preferred not to be typecast and excelled in a variety of roles such as Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, Hungama, Waqt: The Race Against Time, Chup Chup Ke, Garam Masala, Phir Hera Pheri, Dhol to name a few. In spite comedy being his main orientation, Rajpal Yadav performed leading character roles in films like Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon and Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh. He has appeared in over 150 films until now.

He has won numerous awards in his career, including Screen Best Actor in a Negative Role for film "Jungle", Sansui Best Actor in a negative Role for the film "Jungle", Nominated for Screen Best Actor for film "Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahati Hoon". He has also been honoured with the prestigious Yash Bharati Award, Uttar Pradesh and the Janpad Ratna Award, Shahjahanpur.

Today he is a well known artist in the contemporary Indian Film Industry. He has attained a towering height in acting performance and he is a familiar name in India. He has oceanic amount of aestheticism that keeps reflecting through his acting.
